Quick Tips to Keep Your Content Current
Some of the most important qualities of a top-notch website are a crisp design, a clean lay-out, and up-to-date content.
No matter what kind of site you are managing, it is important to review the page regularly to ensure that all of the information is clearly-presented, up-to-date and relevant. Here are 5 ways to make your site more polished and accurate!
-
Use consistent formatting to make your site easier to view and navigate. Consistent fonts, font sizes, image sizes and colors will give your site a more sophisticated look and will make it more enjoyable to view.
-
Look for dates for events, meetings or deadlines that may have passed. If the date is linked to an annual event replace "Deadline is May 1st, 2017" to "The deadline is usually in late spring, be sure to check back exact dates." Try to list a date in only one location and have other pages refer back to it, so that you won't loose track of what needs to be updated.
-
TEST and retest your links. If you are linking to external sites, make sure to test the link on a regular basis to ensure that it is still referring your audience to the right place.
-
If you list names of club or group members, officers, or committee members, review these lists often and make sure to test and update email addresses you might have included. If you list emails for club or group officers by position, try creating an email for the position instead of the using the current member's name.

Take advantage of online media tools like Flickr and Youtube to enhance your page. Flickr allows you to create slideshows of your photos and add them to your site. With Youtube, you can easily embed videos to add interest.
